How this story will be told

HELLO THERE

My name is Lou Dews, founder and creator of made at sea, a jewellery design studio based on the world's oceans and often anchored in Northland, New Zealand.

This blog is a place to share stories from a life shaped by curiosity, exploration, creativity, and the sea.

If you choose to read along, you'll notice a gentle rhythm in the way I share this life.

The writing will alternate between Present Chapters and Memory Chapters.

Present Chapters are written from where we are now - the current passage, anchorage, country, or season. They reflect life as it unfolds: the places, people and cultures we move through, and the way those experiences quietly shape the jewellery I design and make.

Memory Chapters step back to the years that led us here - building Wolfhound, our offshore racing background, the passages that shaped our seamanship, and the evolution of my creative practice alongside it.

Each post will be clearly marked Present or Memory, so you can easily find your place in the timeline.

Together, these chapters form one continuous story - a life lived between horizon and workbench.

Lou x
